People can realize that the will of the Creator or God only comes from his scriptures.
Hinduism (Sanatan Dharma) is eternal without beginning and end. Human beings were manifested in the image of God (Lord Vishnu). Lord Vishnu was alone. He said “I am alone. Let there be many.” All are His manifestations by His Supreme cosmic energy. He has manifested the Universe by His own power. Every human being – man and woman is divine perfect and has divine strength, divine intellect and super consciousness.
One has inner infinite power. One has the soul, which is a fragment of God like electron and proton of atom. The soul is immortal. Body is mortal. One has to awaken the inner infinite divine power which is dormant, covered and influenced by illusion (Maya – the power of God to play with this Universe –creation). One can tune one’s will with God’s will. One can have self-realization. Enlightened persons have heard the voice of God. They have realized the will of God. Their realizations have been incorporated in scriptures. In some scriptures like the Gita, voice of God and talks of God to His disciple Arjuna were recorded.
Scriptures give insight into the will of God.
One can realize God’s will without studying scriptures. There have been many such persons in India like Paramahansa Shri Rama Krishna, Saint Tulsidas, Meera Bai, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Guru Nanak, Saint Kabir and so on.
There is no standard of faith. Basic foundation is that faith must be ingrained with love. There must be a combination of faith and love. Scriptures have not prescribed any standard faith. It is laid down that faith must be steady, unshakable unwavering even when calamities seize one from all sides. He must have faith that God is His savior. God has His plan. In each suffering, God has His purpose. Love is infused with faith. In love, the believer does not want anything in return. He craves to live in the presence and consciousness of God. The believer remains absorbed in the thought of God. He believes that he is not the doer, God is the doer. In all his thoughts and actions he finds that God is there. He consecrates every thought and deed to God. He says “O My beloved God My life is Thine, My goal is thy love”. He dedicates his life to the service of God. He attunes his will with God’s will. There is no standard of faith in scriptures. It is all about relation with God. One can have relation of son / daughter-father, son / daughter-mother, husband-wife (like Meera Bai), servant – master, friend, teacher-disciple.
Teachings that we should build up our faith according to the lessons of religious scriptures.
Hindu religion says “Have faith in yourself, in all and in God”. Affirm that you are a perfect and infinite soul. Be not a slave of habit. Be one with universal unity despite diversity. Core of the lesson of scriptures is faith, love and service. Faith can move the highest mountain. It can stop the storm. Scriptures have laid various ways of faith. One can adopt to according to one’s own nature. One can have inborn-faith. One can have self-realization from faith and love.
In Hindu mythology, a young boy named Prahalad was forced to sit on fire as he was calling the name of Lord Narayana (God Name). He was thrown from the peak of a hill. But, his faith remains unshaken. At all times he was saved from death by his God – Narayana.
Paramhansa Sri Ramakrishna, teacher of Swami Vivekananda had not studied any scriptures of any religion. He had self-realised God of all religions. After realisation, he said that all religions through different paths and procedures lead to cosmic God, who is the God of all religions. All religions are the different rivers flowing from various places but merged with oceans.
Purpose of Life
All men and women are divine and perfect. They have the souls embodied in mortal bodies. Soul is immortal. God is our father, mother and friend. Parents want their children to be good, free from enviousness and jealousy. They should live in peace and in harmony. They work hard without ulterior motive of selfishness. They love each other, their parents and God. They should be full of love. They should be sympathetic, compassionate, humble, egoless, empathetic, helping, serviceful and truthful. They must not engage in violence. Scriptures are the lighthouse. They dispel the ignorance. They ignite goodness. They extinguish the fire of evilness. They promote co-existence and co-operative spirit. All must work to the best of their ability without selfish motive for the welfare of humanity. Learn from Nature. All are in tune to serve the creation. Fruit laden branches of a tree bend down. It gives fruits even though people throw stones. So, a glorified rich person, a person of power should have humanity and be ready to serve people.
Love God like a miser loving money. Love God like a lover loving his sweetheart. Love God like a drowning person loving restlessly crying for life. Cry for God’s love tears flowing profusely in His love.
Self-realization or study of scriptures or message of teachers can create faith and love. Listen to your own feeble voice of conscience every moment. Unity in diversity is the law of God.
